More about me

When I'm not working I enjoy exploring and fishing.  When I was younger I had many adventures including being the first brother/sister team to thru-hike the Pacific Crest Trail. I spent time in my twenties working as a backcountry sea kayak guide in the Misty Fjords in Alaska.  I currently live on a farm where we raise dairy sheep and pastured pigs.

In 2017 we spent 6 months exploring New Zealand, we kept a blog of our travels, one of many adventures is here: JAF BLOG

I live on a small farm outside McMinnville where we raise dairy sheep and pastured pigs, you can see our farm website here: Wee Family Farm

I coach my daughters soccer team

We've trained our dog to hunt truffles

Fishing out of my kayak is my happy place

I've traveled all over the US and Europe by bicycle and for many years I've been a host on Warmshowers, a website that connects people touring by bicycle with hosts.  Post from someone I hosted that was touring with their dog is here: https://www.facebook.com/wheresbixby/photos/a.1454047771473892/1709742842571049/?type=3  Blog from a french couple that stayed with us for two weeks is here, they were with us at the end of June: https://lescampette.jimdofree.com/ouest-etats-unis-mai-juin-juillet-2016/
